Writing Tools

Everybody's got their tools. Writers definitely need a few, and it's a favorite talking point to discuss: what do you use? It's great to find something new that just eases into your workflow, but it is also kind of rare. Heck, I still use Word for my manuscripts. It's a solid tool that does the job I need, but there are better, a bit more personal and fun tools.

One of my fav tools nowadays is IA Writer. It's a great Mac, iOS, and iPadOS minimalist txt file mrkdown program. It syncs with iCloud and lets you work on quick notes and ideas in a clean and simple way. It's my go to when I have to start writing anything. I'll write up my ideas, then I'll transfer to good old Word if I need to format the writing. It's great.

Another go to tool has been the iOS app WordTracker. If you haven't seen it, it's super cool. Basically, it tracks your word count for projects you're working on. Say you're writing a novel, you can easily set a date you want to finish by and a word count goal, and boom, you've got a nice little way to see your progress.

Thanks!

Jake
