Cool Soft Tops
Ughh… I’ve got to stop buying surfboards. I just bought another soft top. It’s an Odsyea Log. 7ft. It’s swell, but I’ve also got an old 6’6 Wave Bandit, a 5’8 Wavestorm, and a 8’ Jerry Garcia board from Costco. If you can’t tell, I’m an amateur. I surf around LA. Most of the waves I catch are closeouts so I’m just out there for fun.
Let’s break down the boards!
Your best option is to go for something solid and reliable, well made, like the Odysea by Catch Surf. You can probably find them at a local surf shop. They’re great.
For a beginner, you might want the biggest board, the 8ft Jerry Garcia or whatever board they have at a Costco near enough to a beach that you can usually pick up for $100.
For smaller riders, something around 6’4 to 6’6 is ideal, as it gives enough volume. For the smallest and children, you can sometimes find the Wavestorm model I have on Amazon, or there is also a shortboard online at Costco.
